Do
I have a Lemon?
If
you've purchaed a new car and
all of a sudden notice that
the paint is peeling or its
making funny noises that you
didn't notice before or perhaps
you've noticed a dozen things
that you no longer like then
chances are the Lemon Laws will
not apply to you. If you
can still drive the car then
chances are Lemon Law will not
apply.
If the brakes do
not work, the car won't get
out of first gear, it won't start on cold mornings or hot afternoons, the driver's seats
come loose, or the car splutters
away at 20 mph when it should be going 50 mph, then Yes, you may have a Lemon
thus the Lemon Law may apply
to you providing you have given
the maufactuer a chance to repair
the defect.
In most States, 10 different defects during the Warranty Period does not brand the car as a Lemon. In some States, a single defect that might cause Serious Injury makes your car a Lemon if the manufacturer cannot fix the problem within 1 attempt.
Do I need
a Lawyer
Well
it depends on where you first
purhased or registered the car.
This of course varies from
state to state. In some states
if you have the proper documentation
then all you have to do is file a
complaint where as in other
places you will need to hire
a Lawyer.
There are lawyers and
companies that specialise in
Lemon Laws some which are displayed
on this site, please feel free
to visit their sites for more
specific information.
